Erika Horwitz, Ph.D., R. Psych.
President

Term: November 2022-2024

Erika Horwitz earned her Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. She received the CPA award for excellence for her doctoral dissertation. Dr. Horwitz worked as Director of Counselling Services at Simon Fraser University (SFU) for 11 years and is currently in private practice in Metro Vancouver. During her tenure at SFU, she led an international, award-winning initiative to end stigma against mental illness in post-secondary settings (Hi F.I.V.E.). She is a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction certified teacher. She published the book: Through the Maze of Motherhood: Empowered Mothers Speak.
  

Simon Elterman, Psy.D., R. Psych. 
Vice President

Term: November 2023-2025

Dr. Simon Elterman, a Vancouver-born registered psychologist, holds degrees in health and clinical psychology from Canadian, UK, and US universities. In private practice, he conducts therapy, forensic assessments, and consults for healthcare organizations. Dr. Elterman chairs the BCPA Advocacy Committee, winning the Advocacy Award in 2021. He's actively involved in BCPA's advocacy for psychologists in primary care, co-authoring the PCPsych proposal. Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Elterman contributes to program development at Hope to Health clinic. His professional interests encompass integrated primary care, process-based therapies, and forensic parenting plan evaluations.

   

Amir Ali Sepehry, Ph.D. 
Past President

Term: November 2022-2024

Dr. Amir A. Sepehry, Ph.D., received his doctorate from the University of British Columbia in 2015, specializing in forensic clinical neuropsychology after a post-doctoral fellowship in neurology. As Assistant Professor at Adler University, he contributes to the PsyD program, engaging in active national and international research collaborations. Serving as the Director representing the Council of Section Chairs for the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), he also chairs Psychopharmacology. Dr. Sepehry is involved in assessments and medico-legal research at the Cortex Center for Advanced Assessment.

   

Tina Leist, Ph.D., R. Psych. 
Secretary

Term: November 2022-2024

Tina Leist, PhD, registered to practice in BC, draws from diverse Clinical, Educational, and Neuropsychology backgrounds. With two decades in private practice, her experience spans the Ministry of Children and Family Services, a Nebraska psychiatric hospital, and teaching undergraduates at the University of Northern Colorado. Beyond practice, Tina advocates for psychological well-being, offering workshops and lectures. Since 2021, she's served on the BCPA board, chaired the Membership Committee for a year, and contributes to the Continuing Education Committee.

   

  

Chantelle V. Jusay, B.A.
Student Board Member

Term: November 2023-2025

Chantelle obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Minor in Counselling from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She is currently a fourth-year doctoral student at Adler University, pursuing a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. Outside of her studies, Chantelle holds a president position for a student organization in her church. Through this leadership role, she is involved in supporting youth and young adults through outreach, lifestyle workshops, and community events.

David Mensink, Ph.D., R. Psych.

David Mensink, PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta, serves on the BCPA Advocacy Committee and practices at Tina Leist & Associates. Committed to psychologist advocacy, he champions the scientist-practitioner model. Previously at Dalhousie University for 30 years, he also led the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia. Relocating to Victoria in 2018, he continues his advocacy efforts and volunteers extensively.

   

Nardeen Awadalla, Psy.D., R. Psych. 
Board Member

Term: November 2023-2025

Dr. Nardeen Awadalla, a Vancouver-based Registered Psychologist born in Egypt, earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in 2020. As clinical faculty at Adler Community Health Services, she facilitates program development and provides clinical supervision. With a background in private practice and community mental health, she offers individual therapy and assessments. Dr. Awadalla's approach integrates interpersonal neurobiology, drawing from attachment, cognitive, and humanistic frameworks. Clinically, she employs evidence-based interventions, blending third-wave cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal modalities to foster insight and change in clients' lives.

Humaira Mohsin, Ph.D., R. Psych. 
Board Member

Term: November 2023-2025

Dr. Humaira Mohsin, Ph.D., R. Psych., serves at Fraser Health Authority, supervising Psychology residents, educating interdisciplinary staff, and leading the regional DBT Train the Trainer program. With a virtual private practice, her focus spans DBT, CPT for PTSD, and treating complex issues. As a Pakistan Journal of Professional Psychology editor, she regularly reviews research articles. Dr. Mohsin, a past leader in the Pakistan Association of Clinical Psychologists, is dedicated to the profession's development. Outside work, she enjoys nature walks, swimming, and culinary adventures, embodying an active, cheerful, and dependable spirit.

   

Jason Greif, Psy.D., R. Psych. 
Board Member

Term: November 2023-2025

Dr. Jason Greif, originally from Maryland, earned his doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Denver. With diverse roles, including at Fordham University and the Jewish Theological Seminary Counseling Center in NYC, he specializes in anxiety, depression, relationships, couples therapy, sexuality, and life transitions. Trained in Couples Therapy and conflict resolution, Dr. Greif holds licenses in New York, Washington, and British Columbia, offering telehealth services in Florida. Apart from his practice, he enjoys family time, movies, hiking, tennis, and soccer fandom.
