How do I know if a Registered Psychologist is right for me?
It is important that there be a good match between you and your psychologist. You can obtain an initial impression by asking a few questions when you first consult the psychologist. Some questions you might ask could be:
- Are you accepting new clients?
- What are your fees?
- What are your hours?
- How much experience do you have helping people with concerns similar to mine?
- What does a typical session look like?
- What techniques do you use?
If you feel that you can only form an impression by meeting the psychologist in person, ask him or her about a consultation. Some clients prefer to interview a few psychologists in person before deciding who to work with. Please be advised that Registered Psychologists may charge a fee for the initial consultation.
