
Martin Zakrzewski, PhD, R. Psych.
Director
Dr. Zakrzewski completed doctoral training in clinical psychology at the APA-accredited Graduate School of Professional Psychology at Pacific University in Oregon, followed by specialized training in clinical neuropsychology through an APA-accredited residency at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Vermont and post-doctoral work in neuropsychiatry at Riverview Hospital. Over the past 12 years, he has provided neuropsychological assessment and psychological intervention services across neuropsychiatric, geriatric, neurorehabilitation, and forensic settings within BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS), Vancouver Coastal Health, and private practice.
In 2016, he became Director of Psychology for BCMHSUS, overseeing specialized provincial psychological services across multiple agencies, including the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital, Regional Forensic Clinics, Correctional Health Services, Community Transition Teams, the Provincial Assessment Centre, and Red Fish Healing Centre. His portfolio included operational leadership, strategic planning, and co-chairing the BCMHSUS Ethics Committee.
Dr. Zakrzewski previously served seven years on the BCPA Board of Directors (2016–2023), including as Vice President, and contributed extensively to the Advocacy Committee. In 2023, he received the BCPA Award for Advocacy for his work advancing psychology within public service. His long-standing involvement reflects his commitment to strengthening the profession and championing the essential role of psychologists in supporting the health and well-being of people across British Columbia.
