The Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal (WCAT) decides appeals of WorkSafeBC decisions.

WCAT is seeking additional psychologists and neuropsychologists to join the WCAT Independent Health Practitioners list. Clinicians accepted onto this list may provide psychological assessment services as needed.

Mental Health Claims
When reviewing mental health claims, WCAT may request external assessments and opinions from psychologists or neuropsychologists. These assessments typically address the following:

• DSM-5 diagnostic clarifications
• Causation questions related to the mental health condition in question
• Treatment recommendations

Participation Details

• Assessment requests are periodic and may only result in a few referrals per year for each clinician.
• Clinicians on the list are not obligated to accept any specific referral request.
